Wednesday evening CNN held a town hall style event in which stories from various survivors of mass-shootings would be heard followed up with questions surrounding school safety and gun control. Sadly, it now appears this event was scripted and did not represent the opinions of anyone whom disagreed with the notion that additional gun control measures would prevent the next mass-shooting. It is clear that CNN would only allow their side of the debate, a hallmark of CNN for a few years now. It was meant to be a firing squad of hatred directed at the NRA and whoever they dare support. A political stunt meant to direct blame on guns and those whom support the Second Amendment, nothing more.

Colton Haab, a Junior ROTC member who shielded various classmates in the Parkland shooting, claimed CNN was unhappy with his story and his advocacy to arm veterans as security detail within America’s schools. Haab claims CNN wanted him to ask a scripted question instead of his own and ultimately decide not to attend.

“CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted. I don’t think that it’s going to get anything accomplished. It’s not gonna ask the true questions that all the parents and teachers and students have.” – Junior ROTC Member, Colton Haab, Survivor of Parkland High School Shooting

CNN now claims Colton Haab is a liar. Yes, you read that right. CNN is claiming this never happened and have insinuated that Haab is lying about their attempts to script his story and questions, despite CNN having a history of doing just what Haab accused them of.

CNN was caught in the 2016 elections cycle giving questions to members of the audience in similar town hall events and again in January of 2017. In a town hall event involving Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Bernie Sanders (D-VT) regarding ObamaCare a member of the audience stood up and read a question off a printed e-mail she received from CNN. Cameras were able to focus on the e-mail and found CNN directed her line of questioning by telling her what question to ask.

CNN has even been caught giving debate questions to candidates they favor, so why would they do anything different with regard to policies they favor? Donna Brazile, a CNN contributor, gave CNN’s debate questions to Hillary Clinton in advance of a debate with then candidate Donald Trump.

CNN stacks the audience with people that reflect the network’s political views. This can be illustrated through the various polling that was conducted after the Parkland High School shooting. Using polling data conducted by the Washington Post in coordination with ABC News, 77% of Americans believe that mental health issues were the root problem of the latest mass-shooting while 58% of Americans believe lax gun laws lead to that latest mass-shooting.

In order for a town hall event to make any headway in America’s discourse we need an audience that reflects the polling data. That means 77% of the audience members should have been in support of further mental health screenings however, that point of view was in the minority. Instead, the audience was loaded with liberals that want the Second Amendment overturned.

This was further illustrated by the audience’s reaction to a story of a college student that was brutally raped. The audience booed the story of a rape victim who believes, had she been armed she would have prevented her attacker from raping her. The audience was far from being considered “civil.”

As soon as Dana Loesch, a spokeswoman for the NRA, began to speak she was heckled by the audience. People yelling hateful phrases that have nothing to do with the subject at hand. Instead of civil debate CNN’s Jake Tapper allowed people to hurl insults at the very people that are tasked with finding a solution to a serious problem. A solution that was never introduced when President Barack Obama and his party held majorities in both chambers of Congress.

Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has issued his latest tweet in response to Wayne LaPierre’s speech at CPAC which clearly articulates that Democrats solely blame guns and not the shooter:

“The NRA is once again spewing pathetic, out of touch ideas, blaming everything but guns. In the past, even after horrible shootings and empathetic words, President Trump and Congressional Republicans have toed the NRA line.”

Chuck Schumer clearly displayed what the Democratic Party blames for mass-shootings, guns. Not the shooter but, the gun. Chuck Schumer and company are out of touch with the 77% of Americans that blame mental health for the vast majority of mass-shootings and not guns. Chuck Schumer made his thoughts clear, he blames guns and not people.

Had polling showed a majority of American blaming guns, as Democrats do, they would outright call for the Second Amendment to be overturned. This is a campaign to demonize any and every gun owner and to get them to believe, by supporting the Second Amendment they support mass-shootings.
