Records reveal Ginni Thomas emailed Arizona lawmakers, urging them to overturn the 2020 election results.

According to emails reviewed by ABC News, Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, urged two Arizona lawmakers to help reverse President Joe Biden’s electoral victory in the state in 2020, implying that the conservative activist played a larger role in pushing to overturn the election than previously known.

According to records, Thomas emailed Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers and Arizona State Rep. Shawnna Bolick in the days following the November election, urging them to “fight back against fraud” and “do your Constitutional duty!” Thomas’ political activism following the 2020 election has drawn increased scrutiny due to her proximity to the Supreme Court.

ABC News got the emails on Friday after filing a records request with the Arizona House of Representatives. The Washington Post was the first to report on their contents.

“Please hold firm in the face of political and media pressure,” Thomas said to the two GOP legislators in separate emails on November 9, 2020. “Please consider the enormous power that our constitution has bestowed upon you. Then, please take steps to ensure that our state is represented by a clean slate of electors.”

“As state lawmakers, you have the Constitutional right and authority to defend the integrity of our elections — and we need you to employ that power now!” Thomas said in a follow-up email to Bowers and Bolick on Nov. 13.

According to the emails, Thomas continued, “Never before in our nation’s history have our elections been so imperilled by fraud and unconstitutional practises.”

According to records seen by ABC News, Bolick responded to Thomas on Nov. 10, 2020, with the message “I hope you and Clarence are doing wonderful!” and advice on how to make a complaint for anyone who “experience voter fraud.”

Bolick responded to press coverage of Thomas’ emails on Twitter on Friday.

She stated, “The dishonest media wants to divert attention away from electoral fraud and our efforts to secure elections.” “Let us cut through the speculation and put this to rest. Here is the Washington Post’s public records request, as well as my emails, which show me replying to any constituent.”

Bowers did not respond to any of the communications seen by ABC News.

Bowers’ spokesperson, Andrew Wilder, said in a statement to ABC News on Friday: “Hundreds of thousands of communications were submitted to the Speaker’s office during that time, and the emails appear to be among them. The vast majority of those mails, including Mrs. Thomas’s form email, were not seen, much less read, by Speaker Bowers.”

Despite being a Trump supporter, Bowers claimed there was no evidence of voter fraud after the election. Bowers will receive the 2022 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award, awarded by the Kennedy Presidential Library Foundation, among four other recipients, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for his efforts to defend election integrity in Arizona.
